The Standard Horizon GX1850 in white is a fixed-mount VHF with NMEA 2000 connectivity, built for boats whose helm electronics already share data over an NMEA 2000 backbone. Setup tips

Register an MMSI before first use. DSC distress calls only identify your boat if an MMSI number is programmed into the radio. Recreational boaters in U.S. waters can get one free from BoatUS, Sea Tow, or the U.S. Power Squadrons; boats traveling internationally need one through the FCC.

Range comes from the antenna. VHF is line-of-sight, so antenna height and good coax matter more than anything else. See our VHF antenna guide.
