The Victron BMV-702 in grey is a panel-mounted battery monitor that shows state of charge and time-to-go at a glance, plus voltage, current, consumed amp-hours, and watts. Its second programmable input can watch a start battery, battery temperature, or midpoint voltage to spot a failing cell in a series bank.

Why a shunt monitor?

Voltage lies under load. Only a shunt that counts amp-hours in and out gives an accurate state of charge.
