Uniden UM725 Fixed Mount Marine VHF Radio w/GPS - Black
Uniden
Important: FCC Ship Station License may be required for installation and use on certain vessels. MMSI registration is required to use DSC emergency calling features. Check requirements at fcc.gov before deployment.
The Uniden UM725G in black puts a GPS receiver inside the radio, so a DSC distress call can send your position without wiring the radio to a separate chartplotter. It also supports private text messaging over marine channels with other compatible radios.
Who it’s for
- Boats without a chartplotter, where built-in GPS is the simplest way to get position into DSC calls
- Dark dashes with black electronics
- Crews who want to send short messages radio-to-radio without broadcasting by voice
Key features
- Fixed-mount marine VHF with built-in GPS receiver
- Private text messaging with compatible radios
- DSC-ready once an MMSI is programmed
- Black housing
Setup tips
- Register an MMSI before first use. DSC distress calls only identify your boat if an MMSI number is programmed into the radio. Recreational boaters in U.S. waters can get one free from BoatUS, Sea Tow, or the U.S. Power Squadrons; boats traveling internationally need one through the FCC.
- Range comes from the antenna. VHF is line-of-sight, so antenna height and good coax matter more than anything else. See our VHF antenna guide.
- Know your channels. Channel 16 is for hailing and distress, Channel 70 carries DSC data only, and the WX channels carry NOAA weather. See the VHF channel guide.
