MPPT vs. PWM

MPPT converts extra panel voltage into extra charging current, so it harvests more energy, especially from higher-voltage panels and in cold or low-light conditions.

PWM is simpler and cheaper, and works best when panel voltage closely matches the battery, such as 36-cell panels on 12V.
